一. 入学与注册Enrollment and Registration
Article 1 International freshmen have to register on the stipulated day of registration. Upon arrival at Guiyang Medical University (GMU), students should register at School of Overseas Education (SOE) and must bring with them their passport, entry visa, Admission Notice and JW202 Form when registering. The SOE Office takes charge of electronic registration. If a student cannot register on his or her stipulated time of registration, he or she is required to apply for a leave of absence in advance. For those who failed to register on time and did not apply for a leave of absence, their failure to register will be recorded as an act of truancy or an unexcused absence in their attendance record. Students who have not register two weeks after their stipulated day of registration will have their admission cancelled.
Article 2 International freshmen must be examined in Health Institutions appointed by the University. If new Students are found to be suffering from diseases, he or she cannot continue to study at Guiyang Medical University. He or she could hold on to his enrollment (admission) with permission from the Registrar’s Office for a year and after which he or she (parents or guardians) can apply for fresh admission.
Article 3 If an international student who hold his or her enrollment (admission) and could not continue with his or her education because of health related issues and later recovers from his or her illness and wants to continue his or her studies, he or she should apply to SOE with diagnosis Certificate from an approved hospital to resume studies. Such a student should apply one month in advance before the start of the semester. After a confirmation from Health Institutions appointed by the University, he can start re-enrollment procedures.
Article 4 Those who failed in a re-examination will be not be entitled for registration.
Article 5 Students registered on the University roll should return to school on time. They should register by bringing along the student’s certificate and residence permit to the SOE. They should pay for their annual tuition fee, accommodation fee and medical insurance fee on the designated point of payment. Students must pay their tuition fees prior to their registration (stamp registration seal on the student card).You are not eligible to register if the records show that your tuition fees have not been paid in full. If a student cannot register on his or her stipulated time of registration, he or she is required to apply for a leave of absence or suspend registration in advance and must be approved by SOE. For those who failed to register on time and did not apply for a leave of absence, their absence will be recorded as an act of truancy or an unexcused absence in their attendance record. Students who do not register two weeks after their stipulated day of registration and have not paid in full within two months will be considered to have vacated their studies willingly.
If the international student cannot pay off the tuition fee before the stipulated time, he or she can write an application form with relevant evidential documents, asking for installment with interest in one year.
Article 6 International students taught in Chinese have to hand over their corresponding HSK Certificate (Chinese Proficiency Test) when registering.
Article 7 International students can extend the duration of their studies up to 8 years.
二、考核与成绩Examinations & Grades
Article 8 Foreign students studying in other undergraduate institutions in China can apply to transfer to our university to study, after having his academic materials accepted for late admissions. Late admissions student course credits in their original institution shall be determined by the relevant departments of the schools and colleges in Guiyang Medical University.
Article 9 Excellent academic performance, self-learning ability of Foreign Students can submit an application to participate in the higher grade curriculum assessment results with more than score 75 points and obtain credits but there is no discount or relief for fees paid for such courses.
Article 10 The Courses failure of each semester can only be made-up once. Make-up of foreign students who do not pass can be attendant, go to counseling classes or self -study renovation (according to the number of renovation students ). Renovation students should pay renovation fee according to the professional credits. Compulsory course examination failed, and must be rebuilt; elective course examination does not pass, you can rebuild, but also alterations to other courses. Course examination which pass, but doesn’t meet the ideal result can also be rebuilt. Restoration accomplishments will credit to student performance file, which is the highest marks as an effective performance, and included in the GPA statistics.
Article 11 The assessment of courses depends mainly on the marks in the final examinations, with reference to the marks in the mid-term examinations or quizzes, and general performances (including performances in experiment operation, experiment report, probation, fieldwork, report of fieldwork, schoolwork, exercise class, in-class discussion, and so on).
Article 12 If an international student cannot take part in the final examination on time with special reason, he or she should apply in advance. Then he or she will be permitted to postpone the examination after his or her related proof status is checked by the teachers in charge of the class, authorized by the SOE Office and the Teaching Affairs Office. Otherwise, he or she will be thought as truancy.
Article 13 For those who don't take part in the examinations without permission or those who cheat in examinations, the result of the course will be zero, and the course must be restudied. Those who cheat in examinations will be punished.
三、休学、复学与退学Suspension , Resumption of Studies and Withdrawn Students.
Article 14 For some particular reasons, if an international student requests, or the university considers necessary, schooling will be suspended. Those who apply to suspend schooling should first apply to the SOE in written forms with related certifications attached. Only with the approval of the Division of International Relations Office can the students transact the required formalities. The suspension is no more than one year. If there are some special reasons approved by the university, the suspension period can be prolonged. However, the total accumulative suspension period should not exceed two years.
Students can apply for suspension, or the university will consider the students should apply suspension in the following circumstances;
1)Students need to have a rest out of university for more than 6 weeks.
2)With special reasons, such as pregnant, students apply or university considers as necessary
3)The sick leave in one semester accumulates to two months.
4)Apply suspension for setting up business.
Article 15 During the suspension time, the university keeps the Foreign Student’s name on the University’s roll. After the break in the study period expires, the procedure of resuming studies should be done with a Medical Certificate from a regular hospital and application should be submitted one month before the start of the new semester. The student will undergo another Medical examination at a designated hospital in China. If they pass the Medical examination, they can resume their studies. Unable to resume their studies and will be dealt as “automatic drop-out”.
Article 16 International students who are unable to continue their studies because of other reasons, or who want to withdraw from Guiyang Medical University will be excluded from the University’s roll and reported to SOE for approval. According to the Division of Exit-Entry Administration, The international students should apply for the change of their visa and pay the required fees on their own before exclusion. Students withdrawing from the University should complete the termination procedures on time.
Article 17 Those who meet one of the following circumstances will have to drop off school:
1) Those whose academic mark does not reach the university
requirements; or those who cannot complete the study within the set time.
2) Those who have suspended schooling or have their status as
student retained but do not transact the formalities to resume schooling when the time is due; or those who haven’t passed the reexaminations by Suzhou Quarantine Center;
3) Those who suffer from mental diseases, epilepsy, leprosy or any
other infectious disease, which have been confirmed by the assigned hospital; Those who cannot continue study because of accidental disability;
4) Those absent from the class for two weeks without any reason.
5) Those who do not register within the set time without any reason.
6) Those who themselves apply to drop off school and cannot be
Article 18 Those whose status as student have been cancelled or
those who have dropped off school cannot apply to resume schooling.
四、毕业、结业与证明材料Graduation, Completion and Attestation
Article 19 Those international students with status as degree student have finished on schedule, and have obtained the required credits, can be permitted to graduate and be granted the graduation certificate. If they reach the requirement for degree, they will be conferred the M.B.B.S degree according to the Regulations on Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China. Those who are unqualified to get the graduation certificate will be granted the certificate of completion.
Article 20 The requirement for degree:
1) Qualified to be granted the graduation certificate；
2) Graduation exam is more than 70;
3) HSK Band 4.
Those who have been affected by one of the following cases will not be conferred the bachelor’s degree:
1) Those who have received penalty of warning, record of demerit
without showing a noticeable improvement.
2) Those who have received penalty of Placed under observation
without showing a noticeable improvement.
Article 21 Those who haven’t finished the required courses within the required period of time or have failed the graduation examination can apply to prolong the schooling period. The prolonged period is normally one year and cannot exceed four years.
Those who intend to have their schooling period prolonged should apply by themselves to the SOE in written forms and transact the related formalities after being approved. Then report to the Division of International Relations Office. The students should pay the tuition fee for the prolonged semesters. If the students pass all the restudied courses within the prolonged period, meet all the requirements for graduation, and meet the standards for conferring the bachelor’s degree, they will be granted the bachelor’s degree.
Article 22 International students should go through the departure procedure after graduation. They can obtain Graduation Certificate and Academic Degree Certificate with the graduation check-list and will be classified on terminated Students status. They cannot apply for Residence Permit Extension at the University. Graduates should leave the University on a stipulated time. The Division of International Relations Office takes charge of electronic registration of International Students’ Certificate of Education.
Article 23 Matters not mentioned herein shall be conducted in accordance with the relevant regulations and rules on student’s registration in Guiyang Medical University. SOE and Division of International Relations have been conferred the power to interpret any portion of these regulations.
